Scroll CMS and Ad System
In India, the mobile phones are the main digital access device. There are about 40 million smart phones (of an install base of nearly half a billion mobile phones), a number that is growing by more than 40% annually. By 2018, India will have more than 200 million smart phones from a wide variety of manufacturers, but there is very little high-quality content for the Indian reader designed expressly for use across these various devices.
Our tech team is challenged with providing this inherently diverse user and phone base in India with a high-quality, engaging mobile experience. We believe that this problem needs to be solved for readers and advertisers. Both want a clutter-free, media rich environment. The first version of our ad system and CMS supports a unified experience across mobile, tablet, and desktop . The second version, in production, will allow for more ad formats such as native ads and for more platform support.

Our vision is to create a ‘reader first’ experience on mobile devices that presents the highest quality news, information, and entertainment. Our product roadmap is focused on tackling three associated problems:
Automated news analyses: How can we best use algorithms to identify important and interesting news using social media?
Content production workflow: How can we reduce the steps required to produce stories that combine compelling text, images, video, maps, posts, tweets, charts and other data?
Social media promotions: How can we best automate multi-variate testing (e.g., headlines) and promotion of stories on social media?
